I watched Dick Durbin being interviewed yesterday about the gas prices.
The interviewer asked him why he thought the oil companies where
gouging the public. The interviewer read some facts to Durbin that the
profit margin for oil companies was 9 cents a gallon and 58 cents a
gallon for federal taxes. Durbin wouldn't comment on that and just
kept pointing out the record profits and retiring CEO payments. He
refused to consider lowering the federal tax rate, saying it was needed
to repair and maintain highways and was a good way to force
conversation through user fees.
If Big Oil is netting 9 cents a gallon and making record profits
wouldn't that indicate the volume of gas they sell has increased
exponentially? How else is it that they are generating these profits?
How about the government -- aren't they making "windfall profits" also?

It is 'OUR' war against terror.

Yeah, as I've mentioned before, the attention span of Americans in
general is about 10 seconds,, but more like 2 weeks. 9/11?? What was
that?? Duh.

They are going to donate 10 percent of the proceeds from the Flight 93
movie, this weekend, to the memorial.
I'm going to the movie when it opens tomorrow.
I think every American should go.
We need to be reminded what it is that we are fighting...

I'm not a democrat (you spell like GWB - you speak Mexican too?) but I'd
settle for one that knows how to govern period.

No one is going to care. They will see record gas prices coinciding with
record oil industry profits. They will also remember that Bush and Cheney
are oil men. Wait till November!

I am going to tell you up front that you won't see Saddam or any Iraqis in
the movie. Those will be Saudis you see hijacking the plane. BTW, bin
Laden is a Saudi. Remember him?

Bush's approval rating sets an all-time low every week.
The oil thing is just another nail in his coffin.
His Daddy was an oil man, and that's what people see: GWB looking away while
Daddy's friends rake it in.
It smacks of Cronyism (and it may just well *BE* Cronyism).
This will lead to bitter feelings for *all* Republicans.
I expect to lose BIG in the Mid-Term.
While you can ride on the coattails of an effective President
You also go down the tubes with a poor one.
The whole Presidency seems to me like the Good Ol' Boys Club having a Frat
party.
And to a whole lot of other people, too.
