My one and only new car ever was a 1989 Mazda 626 hatchback. I liked
the shape of the vehicle and the ability to carry more bulky items on
trips.
Because they come in Supra, Corolla GTS, Corolla SR-5 and Celica body
styles, and look cool in these styles.

Cool
But just how much of a hatchback is the tC model?
I mean I know its a hatchback.... but can it swallow up
a big box as easily as say a Matrix?

Understand
But it will still "swallow" a sizeable box, right?

I like the hatchback for its utility. When you need to carry bigger
items, you have that capability.

Can anyone think of a better argument for hatchbacks?
You can fold the rear seat.
Now, you might have a little trouble with that 60" HDTV, or a large package
from Home depot, but I am able to get a medium sized bass amp (Fender) into
my Corolla and my Celica.
But you might have to bungee the hatch closed...almost closed...

I daresay I could find a box that would fit through the hatchback of
the tC and that you could not fit through the side door of a 4-door
Corolla. It just depends on the situation. Personally I also like the
convenience of a single door that swings "up" rather than "out".
I wouldn't have bought a tC if it wasn't a hatchback, but the car has
*lots* of other cool features, including the ability to make people
like Hachi say "I hate you" LOL
