You really want to start this up again?

I have always said there are those who tend toward the homosexual side.
It's not difficult to spot the effiminate men and masculine women. No
doubt they would find the pheromones appealing or not as the study
indicated, but I'll bet you know more heterosexual examples of the
above than you know homosexual ones. The bottom line (no pun intended)
is they must make a choice to enter into a homosexual relationship
since it is painfully obvious man-man or woman-woman is completely
wrong and un-natural.

The purpose of life is to procreate and extend your species. This is
done by copulation between a male and a female. I know you know all
the details, perhaps better than I do. Male-male female-female just
doesn't work. It is humans who try to change the natural order of
things to satisfy their desire to be different than everyone else.
Some take it to worse extremes than homosexuality, but then they're
really sick.

I know you and I will never agree on this issue so any studies or
opinions we throw at each other won't change our minds. Even
scientific experts don't agree with each other on myriads of topics.
But on this issue common sense is more in order.

Didn't really expect to change your mind

Humans do what they do for pleasure. It the pleasure that entices them,
in "normal" relationships, it is a honey trap, tricking them into
procreating, by enjoying what they are doing first, and thinking about
it after.

You culd consider alcohol in the same way, pleasure first, babies after.
Or is alcohol purely for extending the species and nothing else.

Interesting yet ultimately flawed. This doesnt add weight to the
argument for biological preferences, it simply shows that a brain that
is 'tuned' a set way reacts better toward that tuning. I guarantee that
if you put a sewage worker and a normal person into a brain scanner and
looked for activity when exposed to sewage smells the sewage workers
brain would not react anything like as strongly as the normal person.
This simply proves that you can train the brain to ignore/prefer
things.

You could liken it maybe to people who have chosen a certain type of
music as their preference, play them rock music and they may like it,
classical and they'd show negative brain responses. It doesnt mean they
were born with a love of rock music ,or in fact that god made them
rockers. :-) I'd love to see the original report to see its assumptions
and methods in more detail, im kinda geeky like that lol. And yeah, i
learned to be geeky :)

So you're saying one can be 'conditioned' to be gay? I don't care how long
you put me in a room with nekked women, I ain't gonna wanna boink them. I
think that's more flawed than this (admittedly unscientific) study.

Could anyone really change *your* sexuality?

It would be interesting to see how they quantified this though.

I guess I'm going to have to come clean. I really didn't like women
until 12 when I discovered my Dad's Playboy room by the garage. There
were centerfolds all over the walls and that's when I was tricked into
becoming a male lesbian also.

In a way yes, though i dont think that this can occur later in life. I
believe the best possible explanation is that this is imprinted
during/around puberty. There are several studies that show that
external stresses around puberty can alter your 'grown up' final state,
how much of a highly strung person you are, and there are studies that
very recently have linked mothers stress levels during puberty with
their childrens genetic alteration at a later date. I'll see if i can
find links.
If 'artificially induced' stress hormones during 'sensitive times' can
affect ones childrens genetic makeup, and ones own future mental
health, why can they or other hormones not affect ones sexuality later
in life; Which is, in its simplest form, a hormone response.
On an interesting note, just like with sexuality, highly strung people
are unable to be re-tuned and have a naturally high response to stress
hormones for life, though they can be taught to deal with it better.
This would explain why you couldnt convert me gay no matter how long
you left me in a room of nekkid men.
