Verizon Sued for Giving NSA Phone Records
By BETH DeFALCO, Associated Press Writer
TRENTON, N.J. -
Two New Jersey public interest lawyers sued Verizon Communications Inc.
for $5 billion Friday, claiming the phone carrier violated privacy laws
by turning over phone records to the National Security Agency for a
secret government surveillance program.

One more reason why the county needs to enact national tort reform to reign
in the shark lawyers.

And raise the standards for being admitted to law school. Far too many
mediocre lawyers kicking around looking for a quick killing. Yes, tort
reform would be a very good start.

Rather than raising the standards for being admitted to law school, I would
raise the standards for graduation or passing the bar.

Don't get me started! I just checked my cache and found 53 lawyer jokes.
Re: {OT} DAMN!!! WHY DIDN"T *I* THINK OF THIS?????
There was a time when lawyers were not allowed to advertise. I remember how
they argued that one can get a completive price on every product and service
then need, but the law prevented them from finding out what different
attorneys charged to do a will, transfer a property or defend you in court.
They argued, is the fair? Now that they can advertise. have you even seen
an ad concerning the cost of a will, transfer a property or defending you in
court? LOL
