{OT} Guard to the Border!

I think there is something like 2000 miles of border with Mexico.

It takes 5 people to "staff" one person 24/7 without vacations etc..
So the 6000 Guardsmen will equal about 1 per every two miles if they
were going to the border equally - pissing against the wind.

Do we really need bi-lingual ballots etc. for citizens? just a
thought.

Supposedly, they're not going to be doing enforcement so they won't
need to be standing one every two miles. :)

Of course we don't. But then, the US is in the minority by not being
bi-lingual.

All of this stuff including the bi-lingual ballots started when the
socialists were in power. The touchie-feelie crowd prevailed and the
rest of us slept. This is the result.

Actually Constitutionally in California they do need bi-lingual ballots etc.
for citizens. Do a little research before you post WBMA

Re: {OT} Guard to the Border!

Actually it was the Dims, who controlled the Congress at the time, that
passed the law that Reagan signed. President Bush proposal however does not
include amnesty.

Re: {OT} Guard to the Border!

if under the requirements to be a US citizen, a working knowledge of
English is required why would a citizen need to have a bi-lingual
ballot - yes I am aware that someone decided that California needs
multiple languages in the voter pamphlet - I believe the last count
was 62 languages.

I wonder who will be able to function in this society that doesn't
know the language.

As I have said before, my field was heavy construction. I can imagine
what chaos will transpire if we have to have multiple languages on the
plans and specs for our next big dam, bridge, or refinery. (Pages
1-25 in Farsi, 26-50 in Urdu, etc.)

I just see a problem in the vein we're going and the ones that are
going to suffer are the ones that all this touchy-feely crap was
supposed to help.

Ron (yes, in California)

You're delusional as usual.
Clinton had nothing to do with the Voter Rights act of 1965, which had
provisions added in 1975 to include language barriers. The VRA was
extended by congress during the Reagon Admin and the Clinton Admin, and
will expire next year if congress doesn't extend it again. Also
businesses write instructions in multiple languages to support their
customers you moronic twit.

Define "need." Multilingual ballots are legally required here, but
that says nothing about whether they're actually *needed.*

The law can be changed. And if it is, would that supposed "need"
evaporate?

Do a little thinking before *you* post.

The Barrett M107 .50 cal sniper rifle is quite accurate at ranges over
a mile.

Why are liberals so prone to this "B-but...*you* do it, too!"
style of argument? I wonder if maybe it's the result of the
same stunted cognitive development that made them be liberals
in the first place.

So what id Reagan were the first to grant amnesty to illegal
immigrants? Then it was wrong when he did it, too! What's
that got to do with the here and now?

Who solved a multi-million dollar problem and created 4million new taxpayers
with one stroke of a pen.
At the time it was the right solution.

Re: {OT} Guard to the Border!

With a bit of foresight, the Guard could be under the control of the
governors involved and could be allowed to patrol and arrest illegal
border crossers.

But that will never happen in the current climate.
