2004 Corolla Extended Crank Issue

Hi,

My corolla is doing this funky thing to me. Occatioanlly I need to
crank it for several times to start up the engine( which more likely to
happen when the car is still warm). I brough it in to Toyota dealer and
they told me they do have a known issue for 2005 Corolla that have
extended crank issue but not sure if the TBS applies to my car. My
co-worker has a same year's model and this issue did happen to him
before as well. But Toyota says untill they officially issue the TBS
this August they can not do any thing on my car. The known issue is
about the computer logic and it looks like it is related to the
throttle or something which lets too much gas into the system and
floods the Injector.
So what can I don now, it looks likely my warrenty is going to expire
pretty soon. Will I get sevice after my warrenty has expired and the
same problem is still their(or gets worse and I can not start my car
eventually). Will they fix it for me under the warrenty because I
complained about it before the warranty expired?

Thanks,
Feng

Make sure you have your complaint documented on a repair order from a Toyota
dealership. Just to be safe, have it documented again just before the
warranty expires with the notation that the service department is waiting
for resolution from Toyota.

Re: 2004 Corolla Extended Crank Issue

Thanks Roy.
Will it be a good idea to write an email to Toyota Canada to complain
about this problem?
I am just afraid when they officially release the TBS it will just
cover the 2005 model and my car is still not covered. The worse thing
will be by that time my car's warranty must have already expired.
Will it piss off the local dealer here if I escalate this to their
headquarter?

Thanks again.
Feng

If you decide to send an e-mail, make sure you get a return receipt and save
any replies.

The proper term is "technical service bulletin" (TSB). Toyota's policy in
the U.S. is to cover unresolved problems that were reported during the
warranty period, within reason, such as parts delay.

It shouldn't.
