Engine oil can leak from several places. Possible sources of leaks are
valve cover gasket, crankshaft front and rear seal, head gasket, distributor
shaft o-ring, oil pressure sender, oil pan gasket, oil pan drain plug, and
oil filter housing. If it is a fast leak, I'd start by checking the oil
pressure sender.
If you fill the oil to the full mark, it should be safe to drive to a
service facility, as long as the oil pressure warning light on the
instrument panel is not illuminated.
