corolla cruise control?

The cruise control on my 03 corolla isn't working properly. The light
goes off and on, and when it goes off the cruise goes off; that means I
can't safely use cruise because the car would slow down unexpectedly. I
read somewhere that Toyota had issued a recall for something like this
for V6 models, but mine is a 4. Help!

All Corollas are 4 cylinder so there are no V6 Corollas.

There are no recalls in the U.S. for 2003 Corollas regarding the cruise
control.but there is a TSB with a correction to the repair manual regarding
diagnosis for the cruise control system.

Re: corolla cruise control?

I don't own a repair manual, and I'm not sure exactly what a TSB is
(technical service bulletin?). Is any of this stuff online? If not, is
it worthwhile to buy it? Can this stuff be worked on by a backyard
mechanic w/o professional training?

Sorry, a TSB is a technical service bulletin.

You can access TSBs and the factory service manual in pdf format at
techinfo.toyota.com for $10/day.

Most electronic and electrical components can be diagnosed with a volt-ohm
meter if you know how to use one.
