OK. I don't like the rear speakers in my tC. I have a set of 6.5" MB
Quarts hanging around doing nothing.
Has anyone replaced the rear speakers in a tC? It looks like I have to
pull the whole side panel off the car to get to the speakers. Does anyone
have a Short Cut, or something I'm not seeing?
I may do the fronts, too. I have a pair of MB Quart 5" speakers hanging
around doing nothing, too!
If these make the sound more worthwhile, I think I'll leave the
Scion/Pioneer deck alone. It plays MP3s and I can get a direct-in adapter
for it, and it doesn't really sound THAT bad. I'm hoping better speakers
will clean it up a bit.
After doing the VSE subwoofer thing on my tC, I believe you are going
to have to pull the side panel. Start at the back (with the piece that
runs across the center, it pulls right off and you should be be able to
see how to work up the sides. Let me know how it goes, I may do the
same thing. This web page may help -

I'll be interested in knowing if the OEM speakers are the same cheapo
Mexican junk that was in my Matrix (before the Infinitys :-) ) or if
they used real Pioneer speakers. I should have looked back there while
I was running the subwoofer harness.

My previous experience, with ALL my Toyotas, is that no matter who the
manufacturer of the radio is, the speakers are almost always Fujitsu-Ten.
This is not a BAD thing, but they are not as good as aftermarket, and
certainly nowhere near Infinity's or MB Quarts!!
Would the Fujitsu-Tens say Made in Mexico? The original no-name
speakers in the Matrix certainly did, perhaps a result of the GM/Toyota
cooperative nature of the Matrix/Vibe thing (it also has a Delphi head
unit).

I was just thinking, Delphi. They probably have manufacturing in Mexico.
Wonder how many other parts are Delphi/Delco? Primarily the reason I
wanted my new car Made In Japan! I bet the battery, alternator and AC
Compressor are 'Genuine GM Parts'.
You have my sympathy...

I don't think that Delphi actually makes speakers. I have a couple of
clients (both Japanese) that are OEM speaker suppliers. One supplies
speakers for GM (I think Delphi), Chrysler, Jensen, as well as for cell
phones, consumer telephones, business phones, boom boxes, televisions, and
high end speakers.

For the answers to that and many other Scion questions you can go to:
The only problem I have with the xB side of this group is that it's
HARD to resist the urge to MODIFY everything about my xB when I'm
there. Maybe that urge isn't as pervasive in the tC Lounge. It gets a
little crazy on the xB side, though . . . .
I have a feeling the xB and the tC are about as much alike as a
Chevette and a Corvette.

LOL IT gets JUST as crazy on the tC side!
LED Mods? Who needs LED mods.
Hmmm...blue LEDs would look REALLY cool in my Supra dash....

BTW, who's Pooder? My mom had a Siamese cat that was called Spooky, and
that was later changed to Pooder...

I sure hope it's a lot easier to get to those speakers than it was for the damm
Supra. I'm sure you know what a project those are.
I think it was "Mark" <bogusmailmark@yahoo.com> who stated:

How so?
And which would you be calling the Chevette and which the Corvette?
Neither is CHEAP (although both are inexpensive) and neither is HIGH
performance (although the tC is slightly moreso than the xB).
They're both small inexpensive Toyotas, both aimed at the youth
market, and both really nice cars -- but they have different appeals.
