That's a big yawn, Scott. Both parties on that committee have been leaking
info since Eisenhower's time in office. I think it's specified as part of
the job, to drive presidents and intelligence personnel crazy.

Not sure about that. Consider what was leaked this time. Why was it top
secret? Because it contained opinions which oppose those of the president?
From what I've seen, the stuff that's leaked to the press usually has the
potential to hurt reputations, rather than put operatives in physical
danger.
Re: OT Democrats helping enemy? say it ain't so.......
The Iraqi militias are so stupid it is amazing the Bush cannot figure out a
strategy to beat them. It is obvious that we cannot win without another
100k or more troops. If the militias just laid low we would leave and then
they could take over. But instead, they cannot control themselves and have
to create chaos
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/10/20/iraq.sadr/index.html
and hopefully that will force Bush to do the right thing and fix the country
he destroyed by sending more troops.

I know we're not supposed to remember these things, but three years ago,
president Cheney and vice president Rumsfeld said the Iraqi "security
forces" would be ready to begin thinking about considering pondering the
idea of writing compositions about finishing training and cutting bait, so
they could take over more of the workload from our soldiers, in about 3-6
months. Then, 6 months later and we heard "just a little longer". That old
song returned twice this year so far.
I think we could substitute "South Vietnamese" for "Iraqi" and be pretty
much accurate.

Agreed but at least it is not a jungle. And we have more high tech
equipment than we used to. We have had 5 years to flood the Iraqi sky with
armed drones to destroy the militas but Bush has just made one big mess.

Anything that is leaked that is top secret should result in prison
time.
A couple of people go to jail and it will stop.
I do agree that the classification of information can be suspect, but
it can be taken care of from within.
Jail is a great idea.
The real enemy in America can be found in the 'staff' people in
Washington. We never voted for these donkey circles, yet they control
just about everything.

We were winning Viet Nam.
Tet was a slam dunk for the American fighting men.
We were defeated by the 'drive by media' and the cowards on the left.

It is a big mess because it is a gorilla war. Not the kind of war you
overcome with brute force....
You dims should really go down and enlist. Seems you know so much
about warfare....

That would include people like Paul Wolfowitz, and his circle of "scholars"
who sold this war to Bush. Same type of people who concocted the domino
theory and sold it to two presidents.

The Gulf War resulted in 148 U.S. battle deaths, and 145 nonbattle deaths,
including 15 women. Wounded in action: 467. I don't have figures for the
next period, when we were enforcing the no-fly zone, but if I recall, there
were less than a dozen casualties, mostly non-battle. During that time, I
read an article about Raytheon in an investment magazine. A company
spokesman said he could not invent a better situation than the no-fly zone
for testing new technology and staying a step ahead of an enemy's
technology.
Other than the mounting pressure due to food & medicine shortages in Iraq,
it's a mystery to me why anyone would want to disturb this situation.

Apparently, it *can't*, or it would be. There are top secret files from the
late 1940s that are only recently being dredged up, and many of them were
classified only to avoid political embarrassment. That's obscene.
