Sort of answers the question for one does it not? It is the Dims that are
characterizing his efforts as 'staying the course' not him. The plan from
the beginning has always been, and continues to be, stay till the Iraqis can
establish a government and control the county by themselves.

As the enemy adapted it terror methods from fighting our forces and
destroying inter structure because they were loosing, to killing Shiites and
Sunnis civilians in a effort to foment civil strife, we adapt as well to
kill them where they live. The US has not lost a single battle in the war
on radical Islamic terrorists, in Iraq or Afghanistan. A fact is
unprecedented in US warfare.

Have you ever listened to Bush giving a speech? Any junior producer at any
newsroom (except perhaps Fox) can, with ease, provide you with an hour or
so of "W" saying "We will stay the course" over and over (the Daily Show
will likely have a ball with this flip). Tony Snow is trying to Snow us
(pardon the pun) with BS about stay the course being too difficult for the
American people to understand so the administration is not going to use the
phrase anymore. Face it, Bush turns out to be the ultimate flip-flop king
and is being forced to watch his "legacy" go down the tubes.[color=blue]

More jingoistic chauvinism or troll bait, whatever, but it does sound like
whistling past the graveyard
as far as saving the myth of the world's most wonderful president and
administration. Even the right wing pundits on the talk shows sound pretty
subdued about "W" and the job he has done. I feel for you, but hey, it's not

Man, you are Rove's base! You believe "Stay the Course" means whatever the
hell Rove wants it to mean today and whatever the hell he wants it to mean
tomorrow.

The rest of us expect the President to be speaking English and standing
behind his words. Well, the rest of us expect A President to be speaking
English and standing behind his words. We no longer expect THIS President
to be speaking English and standing behind his words.

Face it, your erstwhile hero is a flip-flopper. He flip-flopped on Osama
bin Laden (and lied about it during a Presidential debate - and his base
swallowed the lie whole) and he's fliip-flopping on Iraq.

The Administration got another self-inflicted black eye on Iraq today, too.
The ranking General in Iraq (Pace ofr Casey - I can't remember whit at the
moment) and our Ambassador to Iraq (Khalilzad) said that they Iraqi
government was buying into this timetable business of the President's and
the Iraqi prime minister said, no, they aren't. The Administration really
should have taken the trouble to make sure the Iraqi prime minister wasn't
going to contradict them in public before they made their announcement. I
guess this new guy's nearly as good as Bremer was (*).


(*) That's sarcasm. If you believe Tony Snow, I figure you need these
clues. Bremer screwed up hugely.

their way out of the developing debacle they have created for themselves.
Why posters, such as yourself, are so invested in a failed presidency that
failed by its own choices. The only thing that Bush, et.al. did right was
invade Afghanistan (a no brainer, really), The UP.SO. had the sympathy and
cooperation of Most of the world to wipe out terrorists, But no, they
couldn't stay focused on our vital interests, and here we are, mired in a
mess with no easy solutions and OBL still breathing air as a free man.(OBL
used as a dumbed down metaphor for our failure to clean out the terrorists,

OBL is hiding in either Pakistan or Iran, both of which will not allow US
military to operate within their borders.
