If Nancy Pelosi manages to impeach Bush, the Senate will fail to try the
impeachment. Just like it did for Johnson and Clinton. The US Senate is
still the greatest source of inaction in the world.

They're not going to impeach the president. She's already made that
statement. That would be political suicide.

My guess is she will rule the crusty old democrats with an iron hand.
I'm looking forward to a productive democrat rule in the house and maybe
the senate. Perhaps we can get the immigration bill off dead center
now. Bush wants it and maybe the dimmies will give him one he can sign.
In any event the dimmies won't have enough votes to overrule a president
veto.

Re: OT - New Speaker

I doubt the Dims will try that tact. The are dim, but not stupid. The
American people voted for change because the Congress has been grid locked.
Even though the grid lock was caused by the Dims in the Senate, the people
blamed the Republicans. If the dims continue the grid lock they know it
will have an bad effect in 08.

Re: OT - New Speaker

As I said before, we deserve her. Us Republicans did zip to control
spending - after all, its not a tax problem is it?, to get hold of
immigration or to fix Medicare/Social Security. So, I think next two years
will be interesting. Pelosi will have the same majority that the
Republicans had, roughly, which has resulted in squat being done for some
time. Lets see what the Dems learned from their 40 years as majority 12
years ago - interesting to me at least.
I predict the the change to any of us, besides a different blather, will be
zippo!

Re: OT - New Speaker

I just did a "google" of Pelosi's legislative high points - it was very
stimulating to find out just how outstanding she is. I recommend we all do
it.

I feel so safe with her at the helm. God Bless America and all of its
citizens. We finally have a smart leader who will inject some much
needed Discipline into the Democratic party. Discipline? Democrats?
WOO HOO look out Republicans! The meteor finally hit!!!!

The only difference I see is that Nancy will have an office with a
window and Hastert will be in the cold basement.

Re: OT - New Speaker

Elmo P. Shagnasty, you know Mister "Dbu" kinda reminds me of Virginia
Senator George Allen. Being Jewish on one side of his family and Christian
on the other, Allen, one would think, would be more understanding of the
unfair obstacles minorities face. But, no, Allen is quite racist and
anti-semitic.

And now it looks as if he has lost his Senate seat to the liberal,
people-loving Jim Webb. Yay!

As all the great religions of the world teach--Judaism, Christianity,
Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism--love your fellow man as you love yourself.

That makes no sense, considering that both houses had been controlled
by very disciplined Republican majorities who had shut out the
Democrats from discussions on every piece of legislation and who had
faced only one filibuster.
