Finaly some sane uncorrupt policies. Imagine letting medicare negotiate
drug prices. Poor pharmaceuticals, all that money wasted in the pockets
of the republicans.

The 250k to 300k leaves me out. I hope that will be the limit in the
end. I guess if you are making even a combined $100K you should be able
to afford a little more tax. Still leaves me out, LOL.

I'm presuming you meant to write "destroy", rather than "dedroy..."
How are any of those things going to destroy the country?
She intends to "Break the link between lobbyists and legislators." What's
wrong with that? Shouldn't the legislature be working for you and me,
anyway?
She intends to "enact all the recommendations made the the [9/11]
Commission." What?! There are unimplemented recommendations?! Hell, yes,
let's get this done!
She intends to raise the minimum wage. This hasn't been changed in
something like 10 years. If implementing it originally didn't destroy the
country, I don't think raising it a little is going to cause a collapse.
She intends to raise the top rate - on incomes of over $250,000 or so. To
what? Restore it to thirty-something percent? 99% of us won't notice.
During the Eisenhower administration, wasn't the top rate something like
90%? We survived that OK, didn't we? People still talk about how great the
good old days of the Eisenhower years were, so the tax rate apparently
didn't crush our spirit.
Here's the thing that really interests me, you wrote "Pelosi is out to
destroy
the country." Now, that signals not just that her policies might
accidentally put us on the rocks but that Pelosi's policies are
conceived and pursued with the express intent of ruining the country.
Now, why would Nancy Pelosi destroy the country? I'm having a hard time
understanding why you think she would do that. Does she get to retire to
Switzerland when the US collapses? Will the demise of the US leave the rest
of the world untouched? Will anyplace be safe? I'd be a little concerned
that the destruction of the US would take the rest of the world with it (the
Smoot-Hawley tarriff is believed to be one of the things that put the entire
WORLD into a Great Depression in the late '20's and we're much more
interdependent, now). What does she gain from this? Wouldn't the Chinese
step into the power vacuum? Would Switzerland be safe in that case? Can
Nancy Pelosi even speak Chinese? Does she like Chinese food? Are the gays
that make up a disproportionate - but still minority - element of her
constituency treasured by the Chinese for their skill as interior decorators
and they are really after a US collapse so that they can have our gay
people?
Let us know how she's motivated on this, OK?

I'm always frankly amused when the Republicans quiver in their shoes when
the Democrats take over, and fear they'll raise taxes. I'd be frightened
too, if the taxes were doubled or tripled, but a tax raise is always (at
least in my income bracket) fairly small, and I don't have to sell my dog or
my dining room table to pay the additional.
It's a lot better than in Republican administrations, when they spend like
sailors AND give a tax break to the very rich....Both Reagan and Bush seem
to have had the idea that they can either print fiat money to cover their
ludicrous expenditures, or pull it out of their backsides, or something. I
have always felt that Democrats have much greater fiscal responsibility than
Republicans. Your mileage may vary.

Nice article. Hopefully she will find out where all the stolen money went
that was supposed to rebuild Iraq.

Or putting a muzzle on lobby groups.....I really like that idea. I'm
sick of corporations writing laws.

Believing that any of them will actually do anything at all, to limit
lobby groups, is difficult at best.

My first thought on reading about de-linking the legislature and the
lobbyists was, "my, my... that's ambitious for the first day on the job."
For an entire session, it would be quite a task. But just because she
hasn't been Speaker until now doesn't mean she hasn't thought about this and
come up with some legislation that would make a difference.
And the time to work on this is NOW before the new Congressmen get co-opted
by "the system."
