If you read the whole story, you see that Murtha never took a bribe, was
never outed by the ethics committee, was never indicted for anything and was
never convicted of anything. period, end of story. end of blowing smoke.

Unlike Mr. Hastert, whose lies to the public about his lack of knowledge of
Foley's indiscretions with the pages is so painfully transparent. 'Who me?
I never knew anything til the day he resigned...I just work here."
pitiful.

Then, there is video from an FBI sting in 1980, known as Abscam. Murtha
was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the federal bribery
scandal, which led to the conviction of one U.S. senator and six members
of Congress.
"Each packet contains $10,000 in $1,000 bills," says an undercover FBI
agent on the tape as he offers a bribe to Murtha. "I went out, I got the
$50,000," continues the agent as he opens a drawer and shows the money .
"From what you're telling me, you're telling me that's not what, you
know, that that's not what you..."
"I'm not interested," interrupts Murtha.
"OK."
"At this point," clarifies Murtha.
"OK."
"You know, we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested, maybe I
won't, you know," says Murtha.

Murtha smelled a sting and used the right words to get his ass out of a
jamb. If it quacks and walks like one......

Yeah, but Murtha never put his hand out or closed a deal. And he was never
found to have 90 big ones in his freezer, like Jefferson. I think, based
upon the transcription of the conversation, there was no evidence to suggest
he was about to take the moolah.
For all I know, he was jerking the guy around.

Murtha had crooked intentions otherwise why would he have been there in
the first place.
