Just what is going to be "won" in this futile and expensive effort? All I
see is 20,000 more American troops in danger of IEDs and snipers. The
insurgents, who can melt into the background since they're not in uniform
can simply bide their time and attack at any sign of inattention.
Meanwhile, the majority of Iraqis who aren't blowing up and shooting our
troops are just waiting (with evergrowing impatience) for the US and UK to
get the hell out and let them have their country back. In a week or two,
we'll have been in Iraq longer than our entire involvement in World War II,
and they're getting a little tired of seeing us as an army of occupation.

America is still in Japan and Germany....
It takes time to do the job right.
You Dims have no ideas except being cowards and not finishing jobs....

Yet another contribution from you, containing absolutely NOTHING
constructive.
Do you wonder why James Baker has resurfaced, along with Robert Gates? What
do you think of them?

and Korea too, after about 60 years (we were there before the Korean war,
too.)
As far as I know, they are our allies. They don't have the penchant for
sniping at us and putting bombs along the roadside. Get real.[color=blue]

If you don't quit this 'coward' slur, I might have to finish a job on YOU.
I'm serious. You need an attitude adjustment.
Just because we're all Americans here, doesn't mean that any of us are
cowards, we just have a different opinion. We're not WITH you, but we're
not AGAINST you, as your dear leader is fond of implying.

Relax, mack. Don't take it so seriously or you'll just have a
resentment. Just enjoy your election victory for a while before the
shit hits the fan.

sorry, BGM, but I take being called a coward VERY seriously. I also take
seriously being called a SOB, because this isn't a slur against me, but
against my mother. I think people should maintain a small amount of
decency and courtesy when it comes to someone else's opinions, too.
Scott seems to think it's perfectly all right to call anyone anything he
likes, and some time he might just find someone in the supermarket or gas
station who doesn't take kindly to his slurs.

Don't let him get to you, he brings nothing to the table. Remember, it is
alway the big shit-talkers who wuss out when the going gets tough.

But for the past 50-55 years, our presense in those countries has not
been for the purpose of stabilizing them from internal strife, as has
been the case with the U.S. in Iraq, but to protect them and the U.S.
from outside military attack. Germany and Japan were far more peaceful
within months of VE and VJ days than Iraq is after 3.5 years of
American occupation.

Wrong. It took nearly 3 years after the war to get rid of the various
'Wolf' groups going around shooting servicemen in Germany. The majority of
Germans were ok. But so are the majority of Iraqis.
Did you even listen to any of the hearings? McCain said we need tons more
troops in Iraq. Generals said the arms forces is just spread too thin and
we don't have them. Bush has weakened our military to the breaking point.

Is McCain running for president? So far I'm underwhelmed by McCain,
he's one of these fence sitters. Depending on which way the wind is
blowing is what he'll be for. I predict he will NOT be the Republican
nominee.
