{OT} Bono and African children (Borrowed...)

Bono, the lead singer of the band U2 is famous throughout
the entertainment industry for being more than just a little
self-righteous. He is playing a U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland
when he asks the audience for total quiet. Then in the silence,
he starts to slowly clap his hands, once every few seconds.
Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the microphone,
"Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."

A voice with a broad Scottish accent, from near the front of the
crowd, pierces
the silence............. "Well, fookin stop doin it then!"

The thing that bothers me about Bono was his recent move out of Ireland to
avoid paying taxes that were to go to help the Irish people. Seems Ireland
gave a healthy tax break to their entertainers until recently. He decided
to bail to another country.

Wonder how much his African "assistance" makes for him - monetarily or
publicity wise?

This is about the ONLY case where I applaud an Entertainer supporting a
cause.

Now, if you want to talk about Babs, there's a definite Shut Up and Sing!
