{OT} You've heard of NIMBYs, how about COVEs? (NPR MarketPlace program, today)
Today's Market Place is going to have a pice about COVEs.
What's a COVE? This is even better then a NIMBY:
Citizens Opposed to Virtually Everything.
Here's an example I heard this AM: The Milk advertisers (Got Milk?) put up
posters on bus stops (queues) in San Fran, and then had to take them down...
Along with the posters, white letters on a black background saying got
milk?, they also placed sticky strips inside the bus stops that smelled of
chocolate chip cookies. This advertising has worked very well in London,
where it was implemented along with the signs earlier this year.
Why did they have to remove them? Citizen's groups got a petition, saying
that 1. There may be people allergic to Chocolate Chip cookies, and 2.
Since homeless people frequent the bus stops, the smell of fresh baked
Chocolate Chip cookies may make them more aware of their hunger!
Can you even believe this? WHO in the WORLD THINKS of this stuff?!?!?!
Market place this afternoon will deal with a new type of energy resouce,
made from plants, that is getting opposition from some. I just heard the
teaser last night, so I don't have any more details. I also have rehersal
tonight, so I won't be able to listren. Someone fill me in, please!!
Re: {OT} You've heard of NIMBYs, how about COVEs? (NPR MarketPlace program, today)
Not too surprising that it came out of San Fran.... Liberals are
generally miserable and hate themselves so much that they hate
virtually everything else too.

Isn't it funny (not funny ha-ha) how folks tend to notice in others
those qualities they dislike about themselves?
Re: {OT} You've heard of NIMBYs, how about COVEs? (NPR MarketPlace program, today)
Don't worry about me Richard, just remember that God is not a "fable",
no matter what you and Joe may wish for.

You're right. San Fransisco isn't nearly as fun as conservative
Birmingham, Alabama.

Sounds like Mark's Toyertee Matrix "has a wheel in the ditch and a
wheel on the track"?

Yeah, Joe and LR and all the rest are going to be surprised 30 seconds after
their life is over when they find out it wasn't a fable after all. . . .

30 seconds of blissful ignorance then? But I hardly know you Charlie.

Interesting....I had a great day at work yesterday, even stayed over off the
clock to make sure my patient was in good hands, saw my wife off and took
the kids to school this morning, ran a few errands (bought a new chainsaw),
had a Philly cheesesteak for lunch (haven't had one in months!), and put up
some more Christmas lights this afternoon. All in all a great couple of
days!
How lucky we libs are to have you cons remind us that we are generally
miserable and hate life....

I hope you aren't going to use that damned chain saw to cut down a tree.
Enough trees have been cut down too readly due to the chain saw. I
think the damned things (chain saws) should be outlawed except for
emergencies, and go back to the axe or double bucked saw, then people
would think twice about chopping down good trees, it would be too much
work, but a benefit would be good healthy aerobic exercise . Trees are
good, chopping them down is bad. Takes many years to grow a tree and
only minutes to kill them. Think about it, if that is possible. Al
Gore would slap you one and I'd slap you twice.
P.S. Cheesecake is not good for your health. It will cause you to gain
weight and add to your cholesterol, then burden our health care system.

Like I said, we miserable libs are quite fortunate to have you
happy-go-lucky cons around....

Mark -- now there's a cry for help. He isn't even aware of how much he
despises himself (because after all, anyone who suggests killing
hurricane survivors is PERFECTLY despicable).
Isn't it funny? Maybe he'll attend the KKK rally in Iran -- I mean the
"Traditional Values Summit"... Who knows. His peeps in the white
house are just the same as that maniac holocaust denier in the middle
east.
Mark "Pussy McVeigh". Has a nice ring to it. I want my oxygen back
NOW Mark. Stop breathing.

You ought to follow your leaders with regards to the environment and
health and stop this talking out of both sides of mouth. It has to do
with principals you know or maybe you don't.
