{OT} electability

Condoleeza Rice says America is ready to elect a black president.
Others say America is ready to elect a woman president. I say what
does your sex or race matter, it should be about what you stand for.
And therein lies the problem for me; it's extremely difficult to
decipher where politicians stand on major issues of the day because
they have to appeal to everyone. When you try to please everyone you
end up pleasing no one.

WASHINGTON - America is ready to elect a black president, says
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The nation's highest-ranking black government official, Rice has said
repeatedly she will not run for president despite high popularity
ratings and measurable support in opinion polls.

"Yes, I think a black person can be elected president," Rice said in an
Associated Press interview Thursday.

I can think of a couple I'd like to bring back from the grave, otherwise
I see nobody yet that interests me, from either party.

Find me a person who is passionate for all and I'll consider it. Good luck.

Re: {OT} electability

I think Pelosi would do well. Just look at how well she did with the Murtha
thing! She is typical of most if not all in Washington, screw the majority
"I know best"

My personal feeling is that there is no one of either party at this time,
IMHO, who is worthy of being elected or has the interest of the people at
heart.

Re: {OT} electability

I don't know as I'd go THAT far Nat, but here is my view.

I was about first grade when FDR died and HST came in - from
history/reading neither of them did what the "public" (or was it the media
again) wanted but I seem to think it was mostly pretty sound in the long
view. Can you imagine a John Kerry or an Al Gore doing things that JFK did?
Or a Carter? I have a few problems with Reagan supposedly not knowing what
a LTC was doing (North) in his name but all in all he probably was the last
one that at least did something. Ike was a caretaker, Johnson foisted off
the "Great Society" which has been the ruination of the traditional family
unit. It also spawned the "let the government do it" mentality (Say
Katrina?) And All since him, including tricky Dick have heaped more and
more on it. Now Pelosi wants to take "excess profits" from Wall Steet fat
cats and give it to 12 million illegals according to her agenda. How did we
exist about 200 years without Dept of Education and the HUD or what ever it
is now? I wonder if I'll see the end of "peacekeeping" in Korea and know I
won't see the 6 months venture in Kosovo end.

If someone had told me when I was in Korea fifty years ago (!) that we'd
still be there half a century later, I'd have told them they were nuts. Of
course, if they'd said that fifty years hence we'd be awash in Japanese (and
Korean!) cars, and that a great proportion of our imports would be from Red
China, I'd have fallen down laughing.
Things change....boy, how they change.

Bullfeathers. Find me a person who has the moral fortitude to stand for the
right thing, not someone who has his wet finger stuck up in the wind. And I
don't see any yet. The one person that really WANTS the office is Hillary,
and she is a total Joe-Stalin-Communist and can be counted on to stand up
and do exactly the WRONG thing every time.

Nixon took ONE FBI file. The Clintons rifled through 900 FBI files looking
for the one file that no longer existed. And we think the Clintons are
BETTER than Nixon. He looks like a Quaker by comparison.

Hell, the Clintons made LBJ look good. and I HATED LBJ.

If someone had told my Dad that 50 years after he left Korea, we would be
buying Japanese cars and old radio names such as National, Collins and
Hallicrafters would bite the dust, he would have probably told you you were
nuts. But then again this was back in the era when he wrote his fiancee
twice a day, and she received letters twice a day. And it cost him 2 3 cent
Thomas Jefferson stamps. That was cheap back in that day.

Anyone not part of the "establishment" or infected with the disease of
political correctness. One that comes to mind right now is Pat
Buchanan although I will confess there are certain things I don't know
about when it comes to him.

Are you saying bullfeathers to Ms Rice or me?
