Cruise Control Issues

I have a 1999 Toyota Camary Solara. I am experiencing a problem with my
cruise control. When I attempt to engage the cruise control, the green
"cruise" light shows on the dash when depressed; however, the cruise
will not engage when the lever is pressed down to engage it. This is a
5-speed manual V6 SE Model. Any help on this would be very
appreciated. Also, where is the darn cruise control module? The Check
Engine Light is on as well.

I would have the codes scanned for the check engine light. Auto Zone will
let you use a code scanner for free. Knowing what is causing the check
engine light to come on may provide clues as to the cruise control problem.

The cruise control has several inputs that will keep it from engaging. If
the parking brake lever is not released all the way, if the rear brake
lights are illuminated, if the rear brake light switch is out of adjustment,
if the clutch pedal is depressed, if the clutch pedal switch is out of
adjustment, if road speed is below 25 MPH, or if the cruise control stalk is
pulled towards the driver, the cruise control will cancel.

The cruise control module is probably next to the engine module, probably in
the right hand kick panel or behind the glove box.
