Back in the 1970s, the NY commissioner of motor vehicles was Vincent
Toffany. I guess his speech patterns made him seem like sort of a meat head,
because a local radio station ran these silly public service commercials
which were apparently based on the station manager's observations of lousy
drivers, and how the commissioner would address them. "This is Vincent L.
Toffeecandy from the NYDMV. It's winter, ya know? Keep youse damn windows
clean, and for god's sake, watch where the hell you're goin'!"
