They may need to try more than once, but they only have to get their act
together once to succeed in an attack. We have to be 100% effective all of
the time to ward off the attack. I give the terrorists better odds than I

Yes. And, I recognize that Saddam hosted al Zawahiri for months at a time as
al Zawahiri underwent medical tereatment(s) in Iraqi hospitals. (You should
recall that Zawahiri was the #2 guy, right after OBL himself.)

I concede the point that there was no direct link from Saddam to al Qaeda,
and especially there was no link from Saddam to 9/11. I won't even debate
the point about 9/11 because there is no link.

The debate is in POST 9/11, and what did, or could have, come about. Al
Qaeda had a guy (al Zawahiri) that was close to Saddam. Saddam was reported
by all intelligence agencies in the known universe to have had WMD -- at the
very least, chemical and biological agents. Saddam had the burden of proof
to show that the stuff was gone, and where it went. He failed. More than
that, he refused.

What would you guys be saying TODAY if what I outlined above had turned out
to be correct? What would you be saying if Saddam gave al Qaeda a load of
chemical/biological agents that al Qaeda then turned around and dropped from
a Cesna onto your town -- or deliverd by any of thousands of different

the intelligence, and was wrong. But, he could have ingnored the
intelligence -- the EXACT SAME intelligence -- and he would also have been
wrong. At least, he chose a wrong position that appears to keep the
terrorists on the other side of the planet from my kids and parents. This is
much better than being wrong, and having the terrorists camped out in my
backyard amidst a cesspool of chemical and bioligical agents.

GWB is damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Given the possibilities,
I'll take "damned if he did," and figure out how to live with it.
