White House Admits that U.S. is going from 6.6 Billion tons of CO2 per year
to 9.2 by 2020. This contained in the draft of a report prepared for
submission to the U.N. A "silver lining", if you will, is that, according to
the report, this increase should not result in significant rises in sea
levels. However, it should provide for wide spread drought and water
scarcities.

Get rid of pickup trucks and large SUVs and our problems will vanish.

I think the auto industry should ramp up their efforts, but your solution
goes OTT - simply not practical.

Build SUVs for the way most people use them, not the way the manufacturers
*imagine* most people use them, which is delusional.

Good. A sign of economic growth with the side effect of increasing plant
growth.

The administration has not flip-flopped. The administration has been
accepted global warming as a problem for years:

Absolutely. It would force people to have smaller families or even no
kids. Maybe it would put you out of a job, but you won't be alone.

SUVs in showrooms should have a large sticker on the window. Huge red
letters: Having 4 wheel drive reduces your gas mileage by this much, even if
you don't use it. Do you really intend to drive over boulders like in the
commercials, or should you be looking at a different vehicle?

You are nuts. 1) This is the U.S., not China - you can't "force" people to
have fewer children, even through this srrt of means - people tend to value
their personal rights. 2) Last I knew, the average number of children per
American family is ~2 (give or take a fraction of a kid) anyway. 3) There
are about to be a ton of retirements, re: us baby boomers - even if teaching
positions are cut via attrition, yet more positions will need to be filled
in the next few years due to the very large number of soon-to-be retirees.
Couple that with the fact that it can be difficult to persuade people to go
into teaching to begin with; neither I (who am the most senior teacher in my
building & plan to stay a little while longer), nor others, would be out of
a job.

If it proves that humans are contributing to global warming then the
solution would be to have fewer of them on earth, agree?
