They sure did, it's called SUPPLY and DEMAND. Look it up, you might
learn something.

What made supply drop so much in mid-October, and go up by the same amount
eight weeks later?

Didn't supply go up and demand go down in mid-October?
This happens every year. After labor day, summer travels almost ends,
particularly when kids are back in school.

I think the issue was ethanol. The requirement was put on hold. Correct me
if I'm wrong.

My brother-in-law is a stock broker. He doesn't make any money when the
market sits idle.
I honestly don't know the reason. However, I *do* know that manufacturers of
many products have plenty of room to fiddle with their prices any time they
want. You see it all the time. My entire business revolves around the
practice. I'm sure oil is no different.
If the supply dropped, the price would have gone UP. If you are going
to make up lies and fabrications, at least try to be consistent with
them, OK?
All else being equal, gas prices tend to drop after the summer driving
season in anticipation of lower demand in the winter months. This is
pretty basic stuff Joe, I expect you to be able to keep up better than
that.

I don't think "summer driving" ends in mid to late October, but let's assume
it does for the moment. Why would the price go back up by the same or more
after the elections? 400 million people participating in a road rally in
China?

You're right. Every price of every commodity and every stock in every
corporation needs to be controlled by Nancy Pelosi.
How were Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, Madison, Paine, et al, so stupid
as to not realize this?

Why did the price go down after being $3.25 in September '05?
