Tail lamp lens removel

I'm having trouble removing the tail lamp lens assembly on a 97
avalon. After I remove the two screws the assembly seems to be
captured as though there is a projection from the assembly into the
frame. This "capturing" seems to be about three inches from the front
of the assembly. Any help is greatly apprecieated!

Same on my 2000 Sienna. After removing the screws, pry out carefully near
the top front edge of the assembly. Be aware that those 2 little plastic
pins that slip into the grommets are easily broken and dealers do not stock
replacements. I had to jury rig mine with screws (with the head cut off)
wrapped in cloth and pushed into the grommets.

I find this information useful, as I had asked this question a while back
for my 98 Sienna, without luck. I did not think of trying to slide it
sideways. There were the two nuts at the rear door's edge and that was
all that I could find. It pried out a bit, but looked like something else
was going to snap if I tried other tricks without knowing, so I stopped
there. I just want to replace backup bulbs with these brighter LEDs that
I found. I had since given up. I will try this slidey thing tomorrow.
