{OT} attn/Ray O

Ray, I've got a small <1/4 hp Flotec pump I use for occasionally draining
the pool cover and mostly for keeping the basement dry. I found it's
impeller wasted away (absolutely destroyed is more like it) in less than a
year. The impeller is made of hard but flexible rubber with a metal center
to slip over the pump's shaft. I have two impellers on order.
For long periods of non-use what do you think of the idea of coating the
impeller with a few drops of tranny fluid?

On second thought, I'm not sure if it's really rubber or some sort of
plastic. Does it matter?

Hmmm...tranny fluid may turn acidic with age. I would use a good silicone
spray instead...
