nope, I dont! That would be the type 2 unit I was referring to... Not sure
if it's a regional thing, anyway I don't remember being offerred the option
between type 1 and type 2. Couldn't find anything on the website, but I did
notice they've added a TPIS (tire pressure indicating system) on the 2005
models, now that would've been useful, I'ld give up the cruise control for
that anyday.

At one point I tried out one of those radio transmitter adaptors, basically
a gadget that plugs into the line-out of your portable mp3 player, and
broadcasts an FM signal which you can tune into on your car radio. Needless
to say it was rather lacking in terms of signal quality so I returned it...
The tape deck adaptor is relatively a better option, but I'ld rather just
spend the extra dough and not have to deal with hanging wires and fumbling
with a portable player while driving.

Anyway, I was hoping for a quick fix solution, no such luck I guess, so I'll
probably replace the unit altogether as Travis suggested.

As for installation, when the time comes the big retailers will have
seasonal promotions, buy from us and we'll install it for free kinda
deal.......thanks all the same!

That is most likely the best option.

I am kind of a 'radiohead', I like to keep up on what's new and what's
cool in audio, and I thought I knew quite a bit until someone introduced
me to an Eclipse head unit with MB Quart speakers. WOW!!!!

Save up another $100 Buckos and plunk it on the Eclipse. I believe they're
made by Fujitsu Ten, always known for their sound quality, but this even
blows their better units into the weeds!!! Nice, clean rich sound, and
pump it through a set of Quarts, and you have pretty close to an aural
orgasm!
