On the other hand, Sirius carries a lot of NPR and PRI programming
(everything but the straight news programs). XM has the Bob Edwards Show,
but not the better NPR programs like Car Talk.
I have XM in my Ford and Sirius in my Saturn (twisted logic at work here). I
prefer Sirius for the most part. The only thing on XM I listen to that is
not on Sirius is NASCAR races, and that is not high on my list of important
things (and when they start racing rear wheel drive, push rod V-8 powered
Toyota "cars," I think I will completely give it up - I already think NASCAR
borders on being a joke, but when that happens, it will be a tragic joke).

True enough, but Sirius has the NFL (I really enjoyed this), the NBA (a
bigger joke than NASCAR), NHL (if it ever returns), some NCAA games, and the
NCAA Basketball Tournament. XM carries major ACC, Big 10, and Pack 10
sporting events. If I did not live in the ACC area, I'd consider this an
important advantage. However, since the games I care about are already on
the local stations, it is not a big deal. I just read that NASCAR is moving
to Sirius in 2007. Looks like I'll completely ditch XM then (if not sooner).
I only wish Sirius would/could carry the NPR news. I suppose the local NPR
affiliates are fighting this since it would render many of them superfluous.
One concrete advantage XM has in my area is a steadier signal.I never loose
the XM signal. I assume there is a terrestrial repeater for XM in the
Raleigh area. Sirius occasionally drops out when you go under a wide
overpasses. It is not really bad (much better than most local stations), but
is a noticeable difference.
