Camry idle speed

I would have guessed 650 - 700 RPMs warm, and its possible that your
tach isn't extremely accurate at that range. Like you said, as long as
it idles smoothly, then theoretically -- the lower the better. BTW,
your idle is computer controlled and not adjustable.

One of my friends just bought a 2005 Camry LE and it vibrates a lot when
stop at traffic light. It is getting worse if the air condition is on.
Dealer said this is normal and it was confirmed by testing drive the other
05 Camry's at different dealers. I guess the quality of Camry has gone down.

that if only the fuel was changed that the engine would flood
itself to death...

OK, you got me. "Cold start enrichment" is probably the wrong term to use.
I was thinking more about the initial start when the engine revs up. After
a cold start, both air and fuel flow are increased until the engine reached
operating temp.

Well, it's certainly possible that the mixture -is- enrichened
during cold starts -also- :)

I'm quite suprised about the latest Camry's. Very too bad!
But Toyota dealers may be quick to say "it's normal". A friend of mine got a
weird and unpleasant vibration under his Corolla 2005 when accelerating from
start (normal acceleration that is). His dealer said "it's normal...". For
myself, I wouldn't like to drive his car at all.

n.b: Tell your friend to use premium gaz for a while, just to see!

If the friend is a good friend, you will do the friend a favor and NOT
recommend premium gas to try to solve a rough idle as it would be a waste of
money.

I strongly disagree. I bought a brand new 1983 when Camry's were first
introduced. I think I paid about $15,000 for it. It was a 4 cylinder
automatic. At idle, it vibrated the steering wheel, but the exhaust
pipe did not hang down by the rear "axle".

I bought a 1993 Camry LE 4 cylinder automatic. I know I paid $17,000
for it. At idle, it vibrated the steering wheel, and the exhaust pipe
hung down by the rear "axle".

I bought a 2002 Camry XLE 4 cylinder automatic. I paid $23,000 for it.
At idle, the steering wheel does not vibrate nearly as much as the
1983 and 1993, but it does vibrate, and the exhaust pipe hangs down by
the rear "axle".

All three Camrys were extremely high quality, although I did have
initial problems with 2 of the three. The seals on the power steering
rack in the 1983 failed when the salesman took the car to fillup the
gas tank prior to delivery. it was replaced under warranty and never
had another failure. I drove it about 100,000 miles

There were no problems with the 1993. I drove it 104,000 miles

The 2002 automatic transmission was replaced under warranty due to a
fault in the shell casting in the number 1 Shift Solenoid. There was a
void in the wall of the solenoid, so shifts from neutral into first
gear were a little abrupt. So far it has only 37,000 miles on it, and
it is going to the Toyota dealership for an oil change today.

It doesnt matter, there isnt a thing one can do about it anymore.

There may not be enough oil spash from your cranksharft at 600 rpm you see
your cylinder walls need oil
I think + - 1000 rpm is good
