Curiosity: what's the price? Pads? Special rotors?
Curiosity: what's the price? Pads? Special rotors?
On my PT Cruiser they are replacement Brembo rotors made in Canada. On the
04 Town & Country they are factory rotors. On my 96 Town & Country (now
dead) they were new Brembo rotors made in Italy.
The pads typically ran between $40 and $80. Akebono lists only two retail
distributors, one being Tire Rack who did not list them as being available
for my 04 and were of little help in tracking down a set. I e-mailed
Akebono who sent me a front set for free! Nice gesture. I suggest you e-mail
them or look up on their web sit for the name of their other authorized web
vender since the other vender had them in stock at a lower price than Tire
Rack. Shame on Tire Rack for loosing my business from pure lack of interest
in making a sale. Looks like they are getting fat from a lack of aggressive
competition from other web tire venders.

Have a look at olyonline.com
they specialise in parts for "Foreign" cars (Euro and Jap models, rather
than US domestic brands).
I was given the headsup by other UK GT4 owners about the site for KYB
suspension accessories (strut tops and boots), and I noticed that they
had the Ceramic pads. I wouldn't buy rotors from them myself as the
weight would make internation shipping to costly, but the pads, boots,
and rear strut tops (going with TRD japan front strut tops) was nice and
easy. Also Tirerack reviews of the pads gave them good stopping, long
life, and less than stock dusting, so I thought give them a go.
They list for my 1990 ST185 Alltrac/GT4
AKE ISD356 AKEBONO CERAMIC PADS
Front
Normal price $73.92
Olyonline price $62.83
Normally Ships in 1 to 3 days
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AKE ISD325 AKEBONO CERAMIC PADS
Rear
Normal price $56.43
Olyonline price $47.97
Normally Ships in 1 to 3 days
For $100(ish) I can get front and rear pads, while a high performace pad
set the the front will cost in the region of £75-100 GBP for the fronts
alone.
Got to be worth the chance, even if they only work as well as stock, but
last longer.

Yes; I have a pair in my 04 Town & Country mini-van and they are superb. I
understand this company invented the ceramic pad technology. In my case they
perform like OEM but produce very little black wheel dust (my reason for the
upgrade). They are quiet and show little pad or rotor wear.
