Interference means, when the engine timing is lost, the valves don't clear
the pistons, and there is a nasty crash inside the cylinder when the out
of time valve (stopped, generally) meets the still-moving piston and since
they don't clear unless the cams are still turning, you usually wind up
with bent valves...if you're lucky...
