89 Toyota 4WD van

Mine took a mort, or so it would seem. It has all the symptoms of a blown
head gasket. I was told it would be around $1000 to replace it. The
vehicle has about 170k miles on it, better idea to get a rebuilt engine,
or junk it altogether? I'd hate to junk a Toyota because most of them
I've owned are pretty solid vehicles.

I udnerstand that it seems a lot of money for such an old van. But if
you like it that much, I'd suggest to just have the headgasket
replaced.

Make sure that the headgasket is indeed the problem. In the morning
when the engine is cold, try opening the radiator cap. If there is
pressure, then it is the headgasket. I wouldn't suggest rebuilding
the engine just because of the headgasket.

What are the vehicle's symptoms anyway?
