2002 rav4 options questions

Does anyone know if a 2002 Rav4 4x4 with the L package comes standard with
ABS? I can't seem to find this info. We just took one home tonight, in the
snow, and I intentionally tried to engage the ABS in a snowy lot and all I
accomplished was to start to slide sideways as the wheels locked up. The
manual mentiones ABS, the dealerships told us it had ABS, but there is no
ABS indicator light telling us something is wrong and it certainly doesnt
engage any ABS.

Also is there a way to tell if it has keyless entry? Dealerships says they
don't know, they don't have a keyless fob for it but it might have it.

We just had a newborn and this was to replace my wife's Celica GT and
frankly, I'm ready to try and get out of this contract and swap vehicles
back. It's not much roomier and the Celica had more options.

Re: 2002 rav4 options questions

If your RAV has ABS, there should be an amber light on the dash when the
key is in the 'on' position, and you should certainly not lock up wheels
with ABS either.
Take you VIN to the service dept. at your dealer and ask them to check
the options that the vehicle came with. It will list them all, including
ABS and keyless entry if factory equiped.

Thanks, I'll do that. I guess I'm just surprised that on a 4x4 that ABS
wouldn't be standard. The keyless thing isn't a big deal, an aftermarket
alarm will take care of that, but I don't like the idea of the wife not
having
ABS in new england weather. I doubt that's something that could be easily
retrofitted.

Re: 2002 rav4 options questions

I have a 2002 RAV4 4x4 with the L package and it does not have ABS. In
addition to the light on the dash mentioned, you can see the controller
under the hood on the passenger side of the engine compartment, where
you will see a rectangular box with numerous tubes going into it.
