Wonder if there are any HEROES in that group?
Going through training does not make one a hero. Kinda like
graduating from
high school, college, business/law/medical school does not make one a hero.
Nor does selecting a political party (Go Us Guys) and posting divisive
drivel.

I just watched that this morning also. It's got to be mind over matter
thing. Takes a special person to sit in 55 degree water for so long.
We are honored to have such people amongst us.

My Navy son went thru that training to become a Rescue Swimmer. It
was indeed an honor to just shake those kid's hands.
Rescue Swimmers do the BUDs without the special weapons training.

College = party time!! College is no sweat time, fun time, spring
break, what a joke.
Go to school in Japan or Russia and find out what college is like over
there and should be here.

College is way easier in Japan than here. High School on the
other hand is hell over there. But of course you never went to college
now did you?

Sure. There have been liberals in pretty much all branches
and divisions of the armed services. A retired Navy Captain
was a volunteer at my high school. He served 26 years as an
engineer in the Navy and was one of the most politically
liberal people I've ever met.
As for your original comment, I'd say Joseph R. (Bob) Kerrey
would fit that description. Here's his bio from the New
School University, where he current serves as President.
