Re: Fox News Broadcast Historic George W. Bush "Press Conference" on Two-Second Delay
Was the slow system from a digital video recorder like the one's supplied by
dish? They are always a couple of seconds behind.

Even sheep couldn't stay awake through that droning.

Fox HAS to be slower, so the listeners can understand.

LOL. Sounds like more than one person here has little understanding
of satellite relays and cable systems.
BTW, Fox IS trying to garner CNN viewers. Looks like the extra delay
is working while pandering to LLL's.
Even in pre-sat, pre-cable days, one could see the difference between
your local affiliates when broadcasting the same pool camera info
during nationally broadcasted events.

One cable coming in, being split on a y-adapter, and feeding two
digital boxes. Whats to understand?

The route each takes to get to the digital boxes.....

Bingo. But don't confuse the poor little LLL with the facts, Scott.

It ain't two seconds, Scott. They were, indeed, delaying it. I think
they do it so that their reporters have time to be told what was said.

Let me make it simpler. All of the other broadcasts were in sync with
msnbc except for fox. Can you wrap your heads around that?

OK yeah Scott.... two seconds... that's right! I route the second
cable around the block and split it a few more times before it gets up
the hall. The quality of both lines is identical.

Did anyone notice, for instance, that there was a 2.5 second delay on the
Apollo 11 audio? The speed of light, and by inference radio waves, is not
infinite. It takes about 1.25 seconds to reach the moon from Earth and
another 1.25 seconds to make the return trip. MSNBC may be using the hard
wired NBC network (first set up in the 50's) whereas Fox is undoubtedly
using satelite link. There is a bit of time used in the space link. They
have to change the modulation. Satellite channels used to be FM, I think
the new band is digital. Broadcast TV is AM with FM sound. Has been since
about 1941 in the US.
Or maybe they are putting subliminal messages in. <G>
