OT: Some facts
The U.S. has not ordered a new nuclear power plant since 1973. France
has built 58, that's 58 plants in the same period and today it gets more
than 78 percent of it's electricity from nuclear power.
The U.S. has not built a new oil refinery since 1976. There are 146
operating oil refineries in the U.S. with the capacity to process 16.9
million barrels of crude a day. That compares with 324 refineries with
the capacity of 18.6 million barrels in 1981.
Remarkable that we've allowed ourselves to fall so far behind.
President Bush is trying to do something about it, but there are those
who oppose progress and would rather the U.S. be a third world country
with its citizens living in caves and reading by candlelight. Would
this really be freedom?
