Performance chip - '90 Supra 7mgte?

Just wondering if there is performance chip made for this year Supra and, if
so, what members of the group recommend. Thanks

Best option for an engine like that would be something like an E-Manage
or Unichip ECU piggyback, rather than just a chip swap.

For a street driven car they are much more affordable than a full on ECU
swap and loom replacement and are both mapable with a laptop and the
right software.

Other options are the AEM plug and play replacment (uses the factory
loom and adaptor + one or two sensors depending on how the 7Mgte is
operated), the Apexi PowerFC (usually only mapable from an Apexi
dealer), Motec/Haltech/Autronic (full on motorsport ECUs that usually
need a full loom replacment).

If you are handy with your hands and a little creative
electronic/electrically, there is also the Megasquirt (loads of google
info). You build it yourself (kit costs $250ish plus your time).

Factory looms can be adapted and some of the MK1 MR2 guys have had good
results using it with factory sensors and the 4A-GE engine, both
normally asperated and as part of DIY turbo projects. you would need to
build an adaptor to join between the Toyota ECU loom plug and the
Megasquirt plug, or find a used ECU from pickapart etc, and build the
Megasquirt board to fit inside it, and match the Megasquirt wiring to
the Toyota ECU case pinout.

Good thing about the Megasquirt apart from cost is, if you Supra uses an
Air Flow meter, you can ditch it and use the Megasquirt map sensor, and
actually gain on fueling and efficiency. Also, the Megasquirt can be
used as a Boost controller/Nitrous controller/Water injection controller
too, using the "Extra" code, as well as basic fueling and ignition.
Downside is, if it is for your main/only car, you might be off the road
while troubleshooting the install.

Problem with replacement "chips" rather than piggybacks or standalone
replacements is that in a lot of cases, all they remove are things like
fuel/boost cut, without adding anything to the fuel maps.
