After a few years of mesoscale storms here in the midwest, (global
warming to blame...LOL), which knocked out power for several days at a
time and caused us to loose all our freezer stuffs I considered buying a
aux generator too, but the local power company came along a year or so
ago and did aggressive cleanup of the power lines, trimming trees. So
far we have not lost power once after the trimming, knock on wood,
(grin).

If I lived in hurricane country I sure would have a generator. Well
worth it.

Want to end a drought in your area? Have everyone wash their car
or home windows.

Re: OT How to divert a hurricane...

bought mine a few years ago... used it A LOT last sept :-)

i don't agree with FEMA buying all those generators and chain saws...
why should i subsidize my neighbor's lack of planning?

turns out a lot of that FEMA money went for toys, TVs and washing
machines... lots of people will grab anything they can get

As is so typical of the abuse enabled by LLL whack-job policies. A
former co-worker of mine has a sister who works for the welfare
department in San Diego. She could tell you stories that would
curl your tax-paying eyebrows.

You plan, then find out that some people think "it just isn't fair"
that you have a generator while your neighbor who spends fifty bucks
on pizza and beer every Saturday, didn't plan ahead or set his
priorities straight.

What a country.

As you RRR's like to remind everybody, liberals are not in charge anymore.
If it is a liberal policy, why is it still in place?

Relax. There's always Betty, Cindy, Danielle, Estelle, Francine,
Georgette, and Hilda waiting in the wings for their cue.

They need to put up a new sign in the lobby at FEMA:
"Lack of Planning on your part does not necessarily constitute an
Emergency on our part."

Practice saying NO now, for when the line forms - of neighbors who
want to "borrow the generator for a few hours to save the stuff in
their freezer". ;-)

So, which model did you get - the nice 10K Generac in the cabinet?

A lot went to the right people...too.

They are prosecuting people in Miami that received aid (nothing even
came close to Miami).

Any big 'help' movement like that brings out some crooks...but we have
room in our jails for em....

good point!

The government schools are still in LLL hands. Bush (both President
and Governor of Florida) are pissing off the LLL by requiring tests to
see how the LLL schools are doing.

......can you hear the crying?

It will take us a LONG time to un do all the LLL crap in this
country...

A 3750 watt one to handle the fridge and freezer.

It IS a good point. Just like Freeh in the FBI and any other Clinton
holdover, Bush should have cleaned house (more than just the carpeting
in the Oval Office) just as soon as he took office.
