OT : backup generator oil recommendation

Just got my new 3700 watt portable Coleman generator in to get ready
for the hurricane season.

Engine is a Briggs/Stratton OHV 6 hp.

Reading the book on the engine it recommends 30 weight SAE oil or
10-30 synthetic.

This unit will only be used once in awhile (I hope...LOL).

Would it make sense to run it maybe 5 hours on regular oil to break it
in and then change to Mobil One?

Yup. Seat the rings, then use M1. I used it exclusively in both of
my Harleys, even in the primary for the clutch. It can't be beaten
for an air-cooled engine.
