OT BUSH SOCIAL SECURITY LIES: President Roosevelts Grandson, In Letter, Asks Bush to Cease Using Former President's Image

To Whom It May Concern:

It has come to my attention that your organization has begun running an
advertising campaign to promote President George W. Bush's plan to
privatize Social Security and cut benefits. The advertisements that are
currently being aired feature President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and
his signing of the original Social Security legislation. I find the use
of my grandfather's image and legacy in your campaign to be highly
inappropriate.

For seventy years, Social Security has been the bedrock of retirement
security for millions of Americans thanks to the efforts of President
Roosevelt. My grandfather would surely oppose the ideas now being
promoted by this administration and your organization. Not only that,
but to compare the courage it took to provide a guaranteed insurance
program for our seniors and the disabled to the courage it will take to
dismantle the most successful social program in history is simply
unconscionable. We should be working to protect and promote Social
Security, not cutting benefits for our seniors.

On behalf of my family, I would ask that you cease using my
grandfather's image in your advertising campaign.

Respectfully,

James Roosevelt Jr

Re: OT LIES about BUSH plan to save SOCIAL SECURITY

Perhaps he should do some research and find our what FDR actually
said about SS as a welfare system and how it should be
self-sustaining Would he and the democrats prefer that the
system go broke and SS check be paid from only the income
available from FICA in twenty years with checks that would be
less than 50% of what they would be otherwise.

Don't fall for the BS from the neo fascists on the evil left.
Read the report for the Moinahan committee on SS and the annual
reports to the SS trustees. SS in unsustainable as currently
constituted. Both are available in the Congressional record for
anybody body will to search for the truth.

The alternatives are raising the FICA tax rate to around 22%,
raise the income limit on which FICA is collected. Raising the
limit will have only a short term benefit and will only lead to
further losses as those paying of 90K are issued ever larger
checks. The other is cut benefits as the income to SS decreases
and the bonds are depleted.

Saying there will be a cut in anybodys SS check, as the opponents
of saving SS are doing, is an outright lie. What will happen is
everybodys check will actually get BIGGER but the annual
INCREASES to those with higher incomes will not be as large.
Allowing those who chose do so, to invest a portion of the FICA
into an account in their own name will build equity far greater
than the incremental cuts in benefits in the Presidents plan.
Anyone who has had an IRA KNOWS how quickly small contribution
over time will lead to some very large checks when one retires.
The President plan will allow those at the bottom, who do not
have the extra funds to put into an IRA investments, to put some
of the money already taken from them to be invest for them.
Those invested funds will be theirs to keep.

I find it strange that the evil left will scream at any tax cut
for "the rich," those that pay most of the taxes, but do a 180
degree turn and scream that the rich, those that get the biggest
SS check may not get a check that is even bigger. LOL

What is actually at work here is the neo fascist do not want it
to be a republican that saves SS

LOL

Anything But Bush....

The funny thing about watching this tug of war...is that the President
has not given up...and won't.

He will get the job done...

Then what will the lefties be against?

Anything that is good for America and the world....I would guess...

Through the general fund, not through privatization (FDRs own words).
You must be listening to Brit Hume's lies again.
