"If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent

most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their
gulags or some mad regime - Pol Pot or others - that had no concern for

And he was DAMN right!. If we would have heard of ANOTHER country doing this
shit we would be OUTRAGED. This is the VERY same thing we are fighting
against.
"Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line," the Illinois Democrat
said. "To them I extend my heartfelt apologies."
"I made reference to Nazis, to Soviets, and other repressive regimes. Mr.
President, I've come to understand that's a very poor choice of words."
Yup, a poor choice of words only because it caused such an uproar
Only you jackass neocons would think something like torturing INNOCENT
people is somehow acceptable as long as it's not our own, sickos.

Don't hold your breath. These loons will continue to defend the
intent of Durbin's words, all the while expressing far more concern
for the well being of enemy combatants than they do our soldiers,
our civilians, or even Iraqis who've died at their hands while
trying to make a better country for themselves.
It goes beyond the pale.

Idiot. An apology doesn't mean shit Politics often require that you
say things to appease the protestors or whoever.
Only a moron like you would put much stock in what this guy says, one
way or the other.

Smoke pole, asshole. BTW, they are NOT innocent people. Pay more attention

I think he was selective about the way he apologized. He did not say he was
sorry for saying, only he was sorry that some felt it was harsh, and that it
was not the most wise choice of words.

It's too bad we live in a political climate were
someone can't speak the truth, but that's the climate
we have with this fascist administration. Every thing
Durbin said was right on accurate.

I suggest you and 'dick' Durbin take a trip down to Gitmo and review
the treatment of the enemy combatants....

When the rubber meets the road...
I do think that some people confuse Gitmo and Abu Ghraib.
Muddled media are at fault, as there has not been any evidence of any
sort of torture at Gitmo, where weight gain is the norm.
Sort of flies in the face of torture claims.

Considering that they won't even let a US senator visit the prison, I'm sure
they
wouldn't let me go there. More and more proof about abuse and torture are
coming out every day. Funny thing is that it looks very much like Abu
Ghraib,
but of course we are sending soldiers to prison for that "isolated
incident".
Looks to me like that was business as usual and that our military is
sacrificing
a few soldiers to cover their asses. Here's an article from that liberal
rag,
"The Christian Science Monitor". There are many more scathing reports,
but you'd just ignore them anyways and continue to drink the kool aide
served up by conservative talk show hosts. BTW how many of the prisoners
at Gitmo have actually been charged with a crime?

produce when confronted with exactly that.

The only fascism I recall during recent years was what happened
between '92 and 2000. Free speech took a nose dive with
politically correct speech ruling the work place.

How does whatever your talking about justify the silencing of
a US senator when speaking his mind?

You may want to look up "fascism". Even so, you're
being hypocritical. To you free speech is only OK if it's
"right wing politically correct".

The one to ignore all news sources and opinions other than talk radio?

Followed the news recently? How about the Dem Senators calling for
the resignation of the head of PBS. His crime? Daring to want
more conservative viewpoints on their network. We can't have that
now can we?

I used it in exactly the same context you did. Daring to speak
one's mind. In your case, a senator. In mine, any one individual
in the corporate work place or the public eye.

Pot...kettle. Free speech seems okay for liberals, but if a
conservative dares to express themselves, they're simply
belittled or silences. Very effective when one considers
the media bent.

I don't listen to talk radio, so that one falls as flat as the rest
of your argument.
