The Bush idiots have made one mistake after another. Maybe they should
listen finally. Bush says that if we set a timetable the insurgents will
lay low and attack after we leave. So let them lay low for a year.
Meanwhile we rebuild the infrastructure, rebuild the Iraqi police and
defense forces and when the insurgents attack they lose big time. And if
they don't lay low we cancel the timetable for exit. How hard is that to
understand. Oh, I forgot, Bush is in charge.

Yeah, so what?! I don't care as long as we have our troops home. This
is a time when we should practice "Father's Rule" and let the Iraqi
Government appeal to the WORLD for help.
Then you have an instant coalition, and we can go back in with some
real help.

Hell no lets just get out. Lets focus on rebuilding the UNITED STATES
infrastructure for once. Their schools are their problem.

Lets just get out. Fuck it. They'll be knocking at OUR door then for
help -- let 'em build a coalition on their own, and THEN and ONLY THEN
we go back in and finally start cleaning up, not as occupiers or
liberators, but as people who want to help.

LOL, it's such a stupid idea that it just might work....I'll call George
tonight and tell him Art suggested this and we'll see what happens.
Maybe you'll get one of those $100 on the spot cash awards for the
suggestion.
Psssst......don't let on to the terrorists about this plan otherwise
they might try something smart.

Re: OT - Why a timetable for leaving Iraq makes sense
The ONLY rerason a timetable to leave makes sense is that it will give the
snipers and murderers a date that then can stand down until it arrives.
The goal in Iraq now has to be to make the country stable enough to stand on
its own against the snipers and murderers that are streaming in from across
her borders with neighboring countries.
The problem you are not addressing is that we are already working to rebuild
the infrastructure, the police, and the defense forces. The snipers and
murderers are working just as hard to tear the infrastructure down, and
destabalize the police and defense forces. How hard is that to understand?
Never mind ...

I don't give a shit if they're stable enough or not. Since when did
that become MY problem? Either way, oil prices are going to fall
within two years max.

Why in the hell are we rebuilding their infrastructure instead of
saving Social Security, Medicaid, Education, Etc etc
I really don't give a flying fuck whether Iraq stands or falls. All I
care about is that they don't do it on my dime. If they want our help,
they can ask for it... after we GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE.

We are rebuilding their infrastructure because that is what countries do
when they help other countries overthrow evil dictators. If we didn't
overthrow the evil dictator, we would still help rebuild the infrastructure
because that is what compassionate society does for those that are less
fortunate.

Like I said earlier, I don't give a flying fuck what you give a flying fuck
about. We are there, and we need to stay until the job is done.
We can be the chicken shits you want us to be by bailing out, but then we
will just be attacked again and again because we haven't the fortitude to
fight back. You can be a chicken shit if you want, but please keep quiet
about it. We have 150,000 troops out there that are telling people we are

scared and weak.

You are sorely misinformed. Soldiers are getting killed, that much is true.
But it is not a waste of time, money, or lives. If we followed your advise
in WW II, we'd be having this discussion in German right now.
America took an isolationist view of world affairs until well into WW II.
You sound like a revisionist historian, so I'll remind you that WW II was
raging on for years in Europe before America got into the game. We lost more
men in a single day on the beaches of Normandy than we have lost in the
years we have been in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since you don't seem to care
that we are in Afghanistan, I'll center my remarks on Iraq. If we used your
measuring stick today back in 1941, the world would be either German or
Japanese.

No. We need to get our troops out of there as well. Bush already said
the war in Afghanistan was over anyway.

One has nothing to do with another.
Oh wait... did we invade Germany to depose Hitler? That wouldn't have
made us very popular. The Europeans had to try and clean up their own
back yard first. Once they started really getting their asses kicked,
and then the disaster in Hawaii where the Japanese attacked us...
-that's- when we went into the war.
We wouldn't have been welcome otherwise, any more than England would've
been welcome to help us fight the Spanish American war.
And guess what, bubba? We came out as VICTORS, and HEROES.
FDR raised taxes to pay for the war, thank God, so that you and I
wouldn't have to foot the bill... on the other hand, thanks to Bush's
wreckless and irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy, my grandkids will
be paying for this war.

No buddy. I never wanted the USA to assume that role. We have too
many human rights abuses here at home to straighten out, before we can
tell anyone else how to live.

Oh? Is that right? Need I explain simple economics to you? OK fine.
Lets say Bush ties Social Security increases to the cost of Bread.
Meanwhile, salaries, durable goods, the GDP in general quickly outpaces
the cost of bread.
Who gets fucked in that deal?

No... our Government is the best in the world.
Its the Bush/Rove Shadow Government that I have a problem with.

Wrong. The President of Egypt himself said that this war would breed
"One Thousand Osama bin Ladens". And, it has jerk.
We have had close to 1,800 young, healthly American men and women, with
the rest of their lives ahead of them, MURDERED in a war that was BASED
ON LIES AND MISINFORMATION, AND DISINFORMATION.
Scott's idea of "A much better world..." Slaughtering American kids.
