Never forget that Kyoto is not about the environment, it's about money
and the haves and have nots.

Lemme mark this down:
Climatologist Eric Dreher considers CNN a valid news source. Check.

Even more so, it's about handicapping the U.S.
THAT is its primary goal.

Not hypocrisy. Yes, they fell short but they're doing more about it than we
are.
And it's really too bad. The countries that invest in new energy technology
will reap the benefits. And what might these benefits be? Control or at
least profit from the world's future energy economy, clean air for our
children, avoid risk associated with global warming, cut funding for
terrorists and address our balance of trade problems (face it, we can dig as
hard as we like but we're never going to EXPORT oil, net, and thereby profit
from it).
Toyota's selling it's third generation hybrid car (I know a guy with their
second generation model and, so far, it's routine maintenance only) and the
selling price on that sucker is list price or higher. GM and Ford are
doing - what, exactly?
Cheney won't even tell us who he met with in forming our energy policy.
This is closely linked to Kyoto because, for the most part our policy is
"dig and burn more oil and, probably, run out of it first." He says he
won't tell us anything about these meetings to protect the privacy of the
CEOs and their corporations and whomever else he met with. That's really,
really odd. If my company's CEO was part of forming a national policy, you
can bet there'd be a BIG story in the company paper. We'd be proud to
have our CEO meet with the Vice President to help form policy. Unless
there's something shameful going on.
It's easier to get conned into denying the science, isn't it? Especially
when denying the science is the way Bush/Cheny can enrich their oil buddies.
Just claim "the scientists" have "an agenda" and go on your merry way. It's
not like science ever accomplishes anything, does it? Nah, without the
scientific method, we'd still have electric lights, transistors, atomic
weapons, X-rays, penicillin and all that stuff, right? It's not like our
climatologists have the same stake in the US' long-term economic and
physical health that we do, is it? No, they've "got an agenda."
Hey, where's Phil Cooney today? Doesn't matter, I'm quite sure you don't
know who he is. And, if you do, you'd be better off denying it, anyway.
Man, I wish I was pulling down what he's pulling down for selling out our
children. But selling out the children is the Bush/Cheney way. The birth
tax now stands at $150,000.
Isn't everything? Government does nothing to create wealth.
They can only take from those that do produce wealth and give it
to those that don't

You there have the crux of Kyoto.
Handicap the world's best producing countries so as to redistribute
the economy among the lessers (read that "socialists").
An insidious plan from the left wing.

Really? You're even stupider than I thought and I thought you were pretty
stupid. Do you think that we'd have satellite communications (people did
make money off that, you may have noticed) without NASA?
Are you one of those idiots that think Dick Rutan did something impressive
last year? Well, he didn't and a competent physicist with an awful lot of
patience might be able to explain to you why but I doubt it. Not because
the physics in the explanation is bad, just because I think you'll never
catch on. It involves actual numbers and math.
Do you think we'd have GPS without government development? Nuclear power?
The Internet? The railroads? The Interstate Highway System? Do you have
any idea how many cars have been sold because Eisenhower saw the potential
in high-speed roadways criss-crossing the nation?

Bullshit. The US-based climatologists doing the work have the same stake in
the US economy's strength that you do. The difference is they're smarter
than you, more patient than you, are more imagiinative than you and willing
to do actual research figuring something out. They don't tune in to AM
radio to learn science from somebody that doesn't know any.

Bush is against it.
Here's what he said on Danish TV:
"I couldn't in good faith have signed Kyoto," Bush told the Danish
Broadcasting Corp., noting that the treaty did not include other nations
-- including India and China -- that he called "big polluters."
In Bush's view, the Kyoto treaty's mandatory limits also would not
ensure that climate risks would be addressed unless countries like China
also make emission cuts. He also says more study is needed to determine
whether human activity is primarily to blame for rising temperatures.
Another reason I support our president.
Can you imagine, China not being included in the Koyoto agreement.
What a deal that would be for them. Cut the U.S. down some more and
advantage China......WOW. All in the name of the environment.

depends on which researchers you listen to pal. Some of them, and THEIR
research is based on hard evidence too, are saying this global warming
is baloney. So why do you accept one sides view to be fact? Perhaps
you do because it's the view you want to have happen and you'll listen
to no others.
Typical left wing extremist, bent on cutting down the U.S.

Ironic when you consider what their fairly recent large forest fire
did to the environment. It was either a NASA or NOAA official that
said the fire spewed more into the atmosphere than a century of
automobiles.
