Echo/Yaris..long term problem andhigh cost!!??

If anyone is interested I will put up a longer mail about the 2 yaris' that
we own..one at 70,000 miles and one at 36,000 miles . Both need according to
the dealer jobs on suspension bushes..the cost for the 70k one is about
£800..but i do have a warranty..the best way to do the job is apparently to
replace whole upper and lower suspension arm assemblies..I do have faith in
the dealer. He tells me that when he was with VW, any rubber based spare was
deemed to have a shelf life of 5 years..anyway , the cars have and are
good..but the cost of replacing what is in essence a £7 part!!..I was also
told that he has a yaris at 8000 miles needing these suspension arm bushes
replaced..

so..any views???

Sounds like a bit of a design problem to me, either that or you're
off-roading the thing too much! Do you drive on dirt roads a lot?

I have owned 2 Corolla 1200's, both new, a '74 and a '78. For some reason
with Toyota's smaller cars, the suspension bits seem to wear faster than
with the bigger units. Both of these cars needed new bushings at about
50,000 miles. Unfortunately, the '78 met it's demise at the hands of a
Mustang before I could have them replaced.

Back then however, you COULD just replace the bushings...
