OT 9TH CIRCUIT: WORDS "UNDER GOD" IN U.S. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE FOUND TO BE "COERCIVE REQUIREMENT TO AFFIRM GOD"
In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton said the words
"under God" violate the right of school children to be "free from a
coercive requirement to affirm God." According to the Associated Press,
Karlton said he was bound by precedent of the Ninth Circuit Court of
Appeals, which ruled in favor of Newdow in 2002.
Conservatives were quick to condemn the ruling.
"Today's ruling by a federal judge who sits in the 9th Circuit is yet
another assault on American principles. The Founding Fathers believed
that our Creator gave us certain inalienable rights," said House
Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.).

oh yeah -- someone should tell Hastert, that the words "Under God" were
not added to the Pledge of Allegiance until 1954. Hmmmm.... another
bright bulb in the Republican arsenal, he is!

Under God was added in 1954 at the height of the cold war because that was
one thing WE had that you athiestic Communist meatheads didn't have.
You must be a card carrying member of the American Communist Liberation
Union. And a redneck peckerwood at the same time . . . . Damn,
Richard, how do you manage to do it?

Not around me it's not. They should be given the ultimate punishment for
treason. They haven't protected my civil liberties, as a matter of fact
they seem to be trying to take them away. They want to make it illegal for
me to practice my religion just about anywhere. They want to close
churches. They want to force acceptance of homosexuality in places it
shouldn't be. They can all go to Hell for all I care. If I were in front

Well... I think the whole argument of supressing "UNDER GOD" is
completely frivolous and ridiculous. Sure maybe it is "coercive".
Frankly, I don't care. Does that mean folks will also be too offended
to carry American dollar bills, since they say "In God We Trust"? If
so, they can send their dollar bills to me, I'm pretty thick-skinned.

I get it. That's ridiculous. If I were racist, I'd probably be dead,
what with the neighborhoods I grew up in.
And, David Duke is a Republican. Oh, and about Louisiana and Mr. Duke:

Coming Out (Again)
Even though Duke's ability to win office seemed to have waned, he
still found himself able to create political turmoil. For the second
time in his career, he became embroiled in a scandal concerning the
sale of a mailing list - this time to Louisiana Governor Mike Foster.
Foster was found by the state Board of Ethics to have failed to report
a $103,000 payment to Duke during the 1995 governor's race, and again
in 1997 when he paid $52,000 for the right to continue to use the list.
Foster said that he tried to keep the purchase secret, because "it
ain't real cool to put out there that you're buying something from
David Duke."

Mike Foster was Governor of Louisiana from 1996 to 2004. A true
Republican.

I certainly won't be dismissive of your path. All I know is, didn't
you recently have major heart surgery? You're still here... Well
that's a good thing. Imagine if you were born say, 50 years ago or
something? My mom always said, "the lord works in mysterious ways".

IMHO, you should learn how to quote and then quote in context.

I submit the following verses as an encouragement and without comment.
James 1: 2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of
many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops
perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature
and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should
ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be
given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he
who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That
man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;...
Hebrew 12: 7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For
what son is not disciplined by his father? 8If you are not disciplined (and
everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not
true sons. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and
we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of
our spirits and live! 10Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as
they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in
his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later
on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who
have been trained by it.
Romains 8: 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God
foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
