OT VOTERS WAKE UP TOO LATE -- WHEN SOUTH DAKOTA LOST TOM DASCHLE THEY SCREWED THEMSELVES

[Question: How many ways can American voters screw themselves???
Sheesh]

Morning Edition, June 30, 2005 · South Dakota's Republican Sen. John
Thune has been in office only six months and he's already learned some
hard political lessons.

He ran his winning campaign against former Democratic Sen. Tom Daschle,
in part, on the promise that he had the ear of President Bush and would
be well placed to keep Ellsworth Air Force Base open.

Now Thune is in office and the Pentagon has slated Ellsworth, South
Dakota's second-largest employer, for closure.

The base is home to part of the Air Force's B-1 bomber fleet. Under the
planned closure, the bombers would be shifted to a base in Texas, the
president's home state.

Yet another source of misinformation from our friend.

Re: OT VOTERS WAKE UP TOO LATE -- WHEN SOUTH DAKOTA LOST TOM DASCHLE THEY SCREWED THEMSELVES

Minister of Disinformation Ripening Richard got it wrong again, quoting
an old story by biased Berkeley-educated liberal journalist Renee'
Montagne ....

But according to
http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Aug2005/20050826_2541.html,

"WASHINGTON, Aug. 26, 2005 - The Defense Base Realignment and Closure
Commission voted today to keep open Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.,
rejecting a Pentagon proposal to close the base and consolidate the Air
Force's B-1B Lancer long-ranger bomber aircraft fleet at Dyess Air
Force Base, Texas. "

Way to go Richard, keep up the good work.
