265 70 R17 BF Goodrich AT's on my Tundra... seems to work
Well, I put these tires on my new Tundra. I could not stomach any more
rolling around on the Dueler H/T's that came with it new... they have
terrible traction in any kind of mud and just looked too easy to pop
like balloons <g>. So anyway, this was the closest size in a BFG AT,
which is my favorite tire for an SUV or truck. They are considerably
taller than the stock tires and while they look great I'm a little
concerned that they might rub in more extreme situations. Anyone else
running these tires? I'm not interested in lifting my Tundra.
BTW, I'm not a teenager who wants to wheel and mud-bog his Tundra. I'm
41 years old and just need "real" tires on my new truck.

Jeff,
I am running BFG AT K/O's, could not be happier with the tire. I am
older like yourself who wanted a slightly higher truck with a reliable tire.
They look and ride great.

What Tony said, except I'm running the same on my '00 Prerunner. The OEM
Goodyear Wrangler RT/S set withstood the mileage well enough, but handled
like crap and refused to remain in balance.

I love 'em. I put them on my Jeep for a while then after I got it
regeared, I went with a bigger tire and gave the Goodyear MT/R a try.
While those were great in mud, where the BFG AT can have it's troubles
depending on the mud, they absolutely sucked on ice and snow and were
terrifying up at elk camp, on the ridge (dirt) roads getting up to the
trailheads. No lateral grip at all. The year before I'd had the BFG's
on there and they did great in the snow and ice.
So I put a set of AT's on the family adventure mobile, a '95 Land
Cruiser, and just love them on there. In fact, I had to use the
Cruiser to pull my truck out of stuck TWICE in my woods cutting
firewood this last winter! And on the big, heavy Cruiser the AT's
were just outstanding on ski trips this winter. I never even came
close to chaining up with several pretty hairy trips up and over the
passes. It's just stable as can be, knock on wood, with good braking
too. Keep a little distance from the wanker ahead of you and they
rock.
I'm a fan! In fact, for want of a better solution, I just went and
bought ANOTHER one today to replace my stock spare. With my
limited-slip rear end I couldn't have my spare be so different in
height from my new tires and I didn't want a manky old used spare if I
really need it up at elk camp this year (did I mention those ridgeline
roads are friggin' HAIRY? <g>)... anyway I'll rotate that new spare
in every 5k miles or else just leave it down there and only have to buy
3 tires next time...
