Headlight changes, and reverse problems

I have a 93 Toyota truck, and I have two problems which are a bother to me
at this time. One is the headlights; they are so dim I can barely see
while driving at night, unless I use the high beams and they are still
dim. And the second problem is the truck will cut off while in reverse,
it makes me think it is not idling high enough. I want to know if I can
get headlights which are made for newer models to fit on my truck, if so
what would it involve. Can anyone help me?

I had a similar issue with my 91. I rewired the headlights with new replays
and direct feeds from the battery (fused of course) and boy did the light
outputs increase or what! Id say that around 20% increase in brightness was
the result, since then Ive added driving lights (Hella rally series) and
upped the wattage of the standard lamps. I now have no issue whatso ever
when on or off road (Unless high speed off road, not enough light yet to the
sides and a set if Rally 2000s will fix this.

Do the headlights glow yellow, or are the lenses no longer clear, or
do they aim at the ground?
a) Fix the wiring. Check every wiring connection, especially the
connections to ground, to be sure they are all clean, dry, and tight.
b) You can use any of several brands of plastic polish made by
Meguiar's, Mother's, and others, or buy new aftermarket lights. Do
a Google (or Froogle) search or check eBay.
c) Correctly aim the lights.
