RAV4 rear door part

I'm not even sure what this part is called. It the a flat rod assembly
that keeps the rear cargo door from swinging open too far.
When you open the rear door you can see it between the upper and lower
hinges.

Does anyone have a name for this part, and does anyone know where I can
order one without driving to the dealer?

Thanks

I believe it is called either a door "stay" or door "check".

You have to remove the roll pin on the door jamb and then remove the inner
door panel to change out that part. If you are replacing it because it
makes a groaning noise, replacing the door stay will not make the noise go
away. It is the rubber piece that squeezes the stay that makes the noise.

There are several Toyota dealerships that offer on line parts sales. Google
"toyota dealer parts" and take your pick.

I'm replacing it 'cause it fell off somewhere and I can't find it.
Thanks much Ray O.

Did you look inside the back door to see if it fell inside? Another
possibility is that the roll pin that secures it to the door jamb broke, and
the stay is just pushed all they way into the door frame and you can either
pull it out from outside the frame or push it back out from inside.
