Transmission Fluid 2006 Tundra 4.7 V8 Double Cab 4x4

How do you check transmission fluid levels and add fluid if necessary for
a 4.7 liter V8? For the life of me, I can't find a dip stick leading to the
transmission and the owner's manual doesn't address it. There is a small plug
next to the drain plug on the transmission pan that says "check" on it but I'm
afraid if turn it out, I'll have transmission fluid flowing onto the floor.

If one needed to add transmission fluid, where do you introduce it? Unlike
my old Chevrolet 305 engine, I simply can't see where the spout and dipstick are
for the automatic transmission.

This a new truck for me and I'm just trying to learn where everything is.
Thanks in advance.

There is no dipstick. I was told by the salesman that it's a sealed
unit that requires no intervention from me, ever! A perusal of the
manual shows that under heavy-duty use they recommend changing the
fluid at 60k miles (I think it was). I'll have it changed at 60k
regardless of whether I use it hard or not, personally.

Great engine. Great tranny. You'll love your truck.

Look under the truck where you park it. If you don't see a red
puddle, nor the underside of the truck is wet with a light red oil,
the fluid is likely still in the transmission.

The transmission isn't really sealed. It has a fill plug much like
your differential or a manual transmission. Fill to that level. It
also has a vent so expansion from warmth doesn't blow the seals out,
nor contraction in the cold suck the seals in.
