Yeah I looked at that one. The fuses look OK also. Those under hood
fuses seem to be for the engine and other things.

THey might *look* good, but did you actually pull them out and test them
with a multimeter??
Seems to me that the owners manual should tell you what fuses go where and
to what accessory.

I'll give it a shot and test the buggers.

Gordon,
The fuses for circuits that are inside the cabin -- the cig lighter, radio,
turn signals, for example -- are located behind a cover on the left end of
the dashboard, if my memory serves me.

Re: Cigarette lighter doesn't work on a '97 SR-5 4-Runner

I thought all yota cigarette lighters has a fusible link (hidden in the
wiring) just behind the connector to the lighter? Pierce the wire back
about 4" and you'll see you have voltage there --- then check at the plug
and you'll see you don't there.

I found that fuse box and changed out the accessory fuse. But the
lighter still doesn't work. I didn't see a fuse for only the lighter.
The others were labeled: ign, gauge, wipers and ecu.

According to Chilton, it's on the same fuse block as the turn and panel
fuses - it's a 15 Amp fuse. (J/B-1)

Ya I bet that's it. Every one I have ever seen has some form of protection at
the lighter.
That circuit is probably also used to power for the clock's display. Or at least it
does in older models so if pulling the fuse kills the clock display it would
be a good indicator that power is getting there.
